911 GT1 (1988 vintage) at Daytona.

These cars ran against the Corvette in GTS.  They were massively restricted as usual, and were 3 seconds slower a lap in qualifying, despite their aerodynamic and down force advantages.
A total of four cars competed, 0, 0T, 01, and 76, Paul Newman's car.

Note the flat bottom belly pan and the stressed transmission.  No venturis allowed as were on the 962.

Remember they used a 993 center tub section on the car, complete with dashboard.  Roof was much lower.

Note the rear corner ducts which act like an inverted airfoil generating down force.  Slats direct airflow.  The corvettes that won used massive venturis under the rear, a technology not afforded to the GT class 911 GT3R.

Note that the nose scoop feeds the intercooler and rear brake ducting.

Now the reason the car was pitted.  Right side turbo seals appear to be toast.

Interesting suspension.  Not the gold titanium axles.  Also note the double-bent tubular sway bar behind the shocks with remote rotary knife style adjustment.

A cool million and it could be mine.  Right.
