Custom sheet metal needed to be made to clear the GT3 muffler which is mounted very high.  We need to extend the rear portion by about 1″ to seal the rear of the compartment from muffler heat.  In addition, some of the inside pieces need to be extended and then welded up.

 

This photo shows the gap between the engine and the engine compartment surround. Normally sheet metal fills this area. None of the factory solutions will work because we are using a 1986 Carrera engine mount/crossmember, a GT3 muffler mounted very high, and a 993 motor with 993 suspension, which changed the shape of the engine compartment closest to the rear seats.
The cross-hatched area is where the sheet metal is located.

 

 

Next step is to weld it all together, then create the heating connection below the oval cutout.
